Agenda: Promoting Regional Stability through Multilateral Dialogue on Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.

Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) – TBSMUN ‘25. As the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, DISEC addresses global security threats, arms control, and disarmament. With rising geopolitical tensions and increasing arms proliferation, multilateral dialogue is crucial in ensuring regional stability.

At TBSMUN ‘25, DISEC will discuss “Promoting Regional Stability through Multilateral Dialogue on Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.” The agenda examines security challenges, including the conflict in Ukraine, East Asian tensions, and Middle Eastern instability. Despite treaties like the NPT and ATT, enforcement gaps remain, necessitating renewed diplomatic efforts.

Delegates must propose strategies to strengthen compliance, promote security frameworks, and regulate arms flows. Over three days, participants will engage in rigorous debate, fostering collaboration to develop pragmatic solutions. The Executive Board of DISEC looks forward to an intellectually stimulating session as delegates work toward global peace and security.

Distinguished delegates,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) at The British School New Delhi MUN 2024. Our agenda, “Promoting Regional Stability through Multilateral Dialogue on Arms Control and Non-Proliferation,” addresses one of the most pressing global security challenges of our time.

As you prepare, we urge you to consider the legal, political, and strategic dimensions of arms control, and the importance of international cooperation in mitigating conflict. This committee will test your grasp of global geopolitics, your ability to negotiate, and your commitment to constructive diplomacy.

Best regards,
The Executive Board
